COD, or Chemical Oxygen Demand, is a very important indicator in wastewater; each wastewater standard sets specific requirements regarding it. So what is the purpose of reducing COD? ! Water eutrophication? ! Is it related to microorganisms? ! Thank you! !
In general terms, COD refers to a term used to describe organic pollutants in water bodies, reflecting the degree of water pollution.

No way, isn’t it true that the fewer organisms there are in the water, the better? !

It is an indicator of the amount of reducing substances in water. Reducing substances in water include various organic compounds, nitrites, sulfides, ferrous salts, and so on. But the main component is organic matter. Therefore, Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) is often used as an indicator to measure the amount of organic matter in water. The higher the chemical oxygen demand, the more severe the pollution of the water body by organic matter. Reducing COD can lower the oxygen demand of the receiving water body, thereby preventing oxygen deficiency in it

Is the chemical oxygen demand here referring to the oxygen consumed by the water body? ? This has not much to do with oxygen deficiency in the water body! For example, if water contains benzene, it’s not just a problem of low oxygen levels~~

The natural environment does not have the same capacity as a wastewater treatment plant in a factory, where various bacteria can be used; humanity does not possess such great ability to modify nature. Apart from these specialized bacteria that can survive in your plant’s wastewater treatment facility, what other natural organisms can survive there?
