Are there any friends from Yunnan? What are some interesting things to do in Yunnan?
Should I travel independently or sign up for a guided tour once I get there?
There are truly many interesting places in Yunnan, with beautiful scenery. Just don’t let anyone trick you
Dali, Erhai Lake, Shangri-La, Yulong and Meili Snow Mountains, Lugu Lake. . . .

Yunnan has many interesting places with diverse styles; Kunming, Nujiang, Dehong, Dali, Erhai Lake, Shangri-La, the Meili Snow Mountains, Lugu Lake, Xishuangbanna, Tengchong, and others are all excellent destinations. Tengchong is especially recommended, as it offers a wide range of attractions: volcanoes, hot springs, wetlands, waterfalls, Heshun Township, which is known as China’s best small town, and the National Martyrs Cemetery dedicated to those who fought against Japanese aggression. In short, there are natural landscapes, as well as cultural history, delicious food, and jade.
Back then, Tengchong truly engaged in a war of scorched earth; all the buildings in the entire county were destroyed as a result of the fighting, with not a single structure remaining intact. When the Japanese troops arrived, the entire population fled the city, leaving it completely empty. It was also China’s first city to be recaptured from the Japanese forces after fierce battles. The Tengchong National Martyrs Cemetery also houses the only graves of Japanese pirates in China.
