A major fire broke out in a warehouse at a shoe factory in Hui’an, Quanzhou, Fujian. Yesterday, the metal warehouse of a Pique shoe factory in the Longgang Industrial Zone of Shanxia Town, Hui’an County, Quanzhou City, caught fire; thick smoke filled the area, and it could be seen from several kilometers away. The air was filled with a pungent odor. 　　It is understood that at around 9:40 a.m. on the day of the incident, upon receiving the alert, the fire fighters in Quanzhou dispatched 29 vehicles and 146 firefighters to the scene to extinguish the fire; no people were found trapped at the site. Immediately after the incident, Hui’an County activated its emergency response plan; the county public security bureau, the fire brigade, and Shanxia Town promptly organized the evacuation of people from the scene in an orderly manner ； The traffic police unit of the county public security bureau does its best to maintain traffic order and ensure that fire exits remain unobstructed ； The relevant departments promptly mobilized power, water supply, and medical resources to ensure effective emergency support. 　　According to witnesses, after the fire broke out, thick smoke rose into the air like a dark cloud, spreading over hundreds of meters – a truly terrifying sight. Due to the heavy smoke, the residents in the surrounding area quickly closed their windows. A supervisor at the factory where the incident occurred revealed that it was the weekend at the time, so there were relatively few employees on site. After the incident, the employees were evacuated urgently, and no injuries were reported. 　　Around 12 p.m. that day, the fire at the scene was brought under control, and all potential hazards in the surrounding area were eliminated, ensuring that no other businesses were affected. At around 13:30, the open fire was largely extinguished, and the incident caused no casualties. 　　Preliminary investigations indicate that the building where the fire broke out was a finished goods warehouse for a shoe manufacturing plant, constructed of single-layer metal sheets. The area affected by the fire was over 3,000 square meters, with the materials burning mainly being finished shoe components. At present, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are under investigation and assessment.
