Hello, everyone. I work in oil and gas terminals. In the current project, there is a sulfur pipe on the pipe rack, and a steam jacket needs to be installed; however, the client requires that no flanges be used. . . I checked the standard SH/T 3040–2012; on pages 19–20, in the illustrations of the sleeve type with pipe caps and those with end plates, flanges are still shown ; However, on page 22, in the legend for the exposed-weld pipe connections shown in Figure 7.2.3-5, the cap-type and endplate-type connections are shown without flanges. So, does a jacketed tube necessarily require flanges? If not, how are the inner tube and the outer sleeve connected?
It is necessary to construct it in sections; a sleeve is installed on each inner tube. Considering steam pressure, pipe caps are used for welding at the ends, and the outer sleeves must have welding areas reserved at both ends of the inner tubes to facilitate welding. As a result, the welding seams of the inner tubes remain exposed. The two outer sleeves need to be connected using connecting pipes to ensure steam flow.
I also have questions now regarding the heating length of the steam jacket tube. . In SH/T 3040-2012, it is specified that for casings with a diameter of DN450 or less, the length required for heating purposes ranges from 45m to 110m. However, according to clause 23.3.2 of HGT20549-1998, \"the length of the casing corresponding to each steam inlet should not exceed 30m; if this limit is exceeded, an additional steam inlet must be provided.\" Don’t these two standards conflict with each other? I hope some experts will be kind enough to offer their guidance.
I checked these two standards on the Engineering Standards Network, and they are both current standards. . .
