Precautions for blind plates – Use as few blind plates as possible

The specifications state that \"blind plates should be used as few as possible, provided that the process requirements are met.\" I don’t understand why blind plates should be used as few as possible; I would appreciate some guidance from everyone. Thank you!
In my personal understanding, blind flanges generally serve to isolate and cut off flow; they are used during pipeline pressure testing, airtightness checks, and maintenance. During normal operation, it’s better to have as few blind flanges on the pipelines as possible. For smaller pipelines, 8-shaped blind flanges are usually preferred, while for larger pipelines, blind flanges combined with blind rings are used. Although these devices do provide isolation, there is a gasket on each side of each blind flange (without taking into account the end caps); therefore, the gaskets need to be replaced during maintenance. If not necessary, using such devices can reduce potential leakage points. For smaller systems, it’s more convenient to simply use valves for drainage and venting.
