Some sources indicate that fire protection generally takes two forms: one is applying fire-resistant coatings to the surface, and the other is laying a concrete fire-resistant layer on the surface. Question: What materials are commonly used for fireproof coatings and concrete fireproof layers at present? What density should be considered? What is the cost-performance ratio? What are their respective advantages? Literally speaking, it seems that applying fireproof coating is more convenient, and there is no need to install fireproof supports either – is that correct? The use of coatings or refractory mortar depends mainly on the design specifications; nowadays, refractory mortar coatings are the most commonly used. It mainly depends on the fire protection rating. For the fire protection of spherical tank supports, the focus is on ensuring that the supporting structure can still hold up the tank intact until fire trucks arrive in case of a fire. In my opinion, fireproof coatings are far less effective than refractory mortar coatings, which is what you refer to as concrete fire protection layers.
Fire prevention purpose: 1. Prevent fire from spreading along the supports 2. Prevent the skirt of the tower from softening and burning due to high temperatures.

Question: 1- Fireproof putty is used for coating the columns of spherical tanks; how should they be maintained and inspected on a regular basis? 2-Is it necessary to break open the crack to check whether the underlying metal is corroded? 3- If the crack is small, can anti-rust paint be applied after the inspection is completed? 4- There are many cracks on the surface of the fireproof putty; how should this be dealt with?
