Answer: The points to note when performing the voltage-raising operation on the generator are: the voltage increase should not be too rapid; instead, the generator’s voltage should be raised gradually to the rated value. During the voltage rise process, check whether the stator ammeter shows any indication. The three-phase stator voltages should be balanced as checked by the insulation monitoring device. The corresponding values of stator voltage and rotor current should be normal. When the stator voltage reaches the rated value, it should be checked that the no-load rotor current is normal.

(2) During the voltage rise process, it is necessary to monitor that the rotor voltage and current, as well as the stator voltage meter readings, increase uniformly. The stator current should be zero; if current is detected, it indicates a short circuit in the stator circuit, and the excitation should be disconnected immediately for inspection. (3) When the voltage rises to 50% of the rated value, the generator’s zero-sequence voltage should also be checked to ensure that 3U0 ≤ 5V. (4) During the voltage rise process, it is necessary to check the operating condition of the generator and exciter, whether the brushes are functioning properly, and whether the inlet and outlet air temperatures are within normal ranges. (5) After boosting to the rated voltage, the insulation condition of the rotor circuit should be checked; the voltage of the positive and negative poles with respect to ground should be equal, and the sum of the voltages of the two poles with respect to ground should be less than 80% of the inter-pole voltage.
