As with the Commissioning of field instrumentation, it generally includes the following two items: #Calibration and testing of instruments prior to installation #Loop testing. In fact, the answer is quite simple. Please feel free to add more; share as many as you know. There is no need to explain exactly how to carry out each task; simply indicating which tasks need to be completed will earn you points.

I’m not sure whether ICP is one of the field instruments, but it’s the instrument I’m familiar with. ICP stands for Inductively coupled plasma (an instrument used for spectroscopic analysis). Install the ICP device; check the argon gas supply as well as the ventilation system. Prepare standard solutions and deionized water for calibration purposes. Run the instrument to carry out the calibration.
I’m a bit confused about this topic. If you’re referring to the period after the field instrument has been installed but before it’s put into operation, what should we do to test the instrument? First, you need to verify that the instrument’s label and model are correct. Next, check whether the installation and connections are proper. Then, assess the operating space to ensure that the instrument can be easily viewed and operated. For transmitters and control valves, you should carry out the following steps: 1) check the cables and terminals, 2) supply power and test/calibrate the instrument, 3) ensure that the signals and circuits are correct, 4) confirm that the valve can operate in response to the signals
- Conduct factory acceptance testing for the DCS. – According to the diagrams, inspect the cables and terminals, including junction boxes, control boxes, and cabinets, etc. – Ensure that the grounding system is proper. – Supply power to the DCS and field instruments in order to calibrate each instrument. – Check the loops in the DCS to ensure that the valves operate correctly.

In fact, when I looked at this issue again, I realized that strictly speaking, these items should belong to the Ready for Commissioning phase. • Calibration and testing of instruments prior to installation. • Visual inspection for complete and correct installation. • Insulation and continuity testing of cables. • Cleaning, flushing, pressure and leak testing of pneumatic and hydraulic tubing. • Adjustment of control, alarm and shutdown settings. • Loop testing. • Function testing of control systems. • Function testing of field instruments. • Hot oil flushing of instrument tubing. • Area completion. • Preservation.
