Is there a difference between the DN value specified in the standards for stainless steel sanitary pipes and those in the Ministry of Chemical Industry’s standards for seamless steel pipes? Are there different sizes for the quick-install chucks? For example, for pipes with a DN50 diameter, in sanitary-grade piping (where DN50 corresponds to an outer diameter of 50.8), a chuck with an outer diameter of Φ64 can be used; whereas under chemical industry standards (where DN50 corresponds to an outer diameter of 60.3), a chuck with an outer diameter of Φ77.5 is required – a Φ64 chuck would be too small in this case. I’d like to ask the experts: is my understanding correct? It would be better to have a detailed list indicating which standard corresponds to which size of chuck.
Sanitary-grade pipes are indeed different from industrial pipes
The chuck you mentioned is likely referring to a clamp connection; such connections are designed specifically for sanitary-grade stainless steel pipes and cannot be used with pipes that meet chemical industry standards. As for Φ64, according to the 3A standard, the outer diameter should be 63.5 (2.5”) or 50.8 (2”), and these values do not match.
