Everyone who applies butter to the valve screw – why do you do that?

Is everyone still applying grease to the valve screw? May I ask why? These days, the screw rods of valves are mostly made of stainless steel. Isn’t applying butter meant to prevent rust?
It also serves a lubricating function; otherwise, the screw and the copper sleeve would rub against each other directly on a regular basis, which would easily lead to wear.
Show me one that doesn’t use butter, especially domestic valves: @DN150 304 gate valves that can support a person’s weight without moving when secured with an F bolt
