May I ask, what is the scope of application for NPT threads?
Generally used for pipe threads. GB/T12716-1991 is equivalent to it
The NPT American 60° sealed pipe threads are divided into two types: general sealed pipe threads and dry-sealed pipe threads. General-purpose sealed pipe threads allow a sealing medium to be filled within the thread pair; for example, tape can be wrapped around the thread surfaces or sealant can be applied. These threads have moderate tolerance values, making them an economical option for sealing purposes, and they are suitable for sealing connections in pipes, valves, pipe fittings, plugs, and other piping accessories ； Dry-sealed pipe threads do not use any sealing medium within the thread pair; they rely entirely on the threads themselves for sealing. The tolerances and inspection methods for such threads are quite strict, making them precision sealing threads. They are primarily used in situations where high standards are required for sealing performance, such as in gas grenades, automobiles, aircraft, spacecraft, as well as in the petrochemical industry and everyday life.
