For the liquid sulfur pump used to transport the liquid sulfur coming out of the 98% liquid sulfur tank, what type is generally chosen? Long-axis submersible pump? Horizontal centrifugal pump? Screw pump? We are currently using horizontal centrifugal pumps, but leaks keep occurring. The management suggests switching to submersible pumps, but the tank is too deep (10m), making construction and maintenance difficult I’m hoping experts can help analyze how to reduce leaks in horizontal pumps (the material used is suitable); or what type of pump would be more appropriate. Thank you. Also, is it useful to use steam heating?
There are many reasons for leaks: issues with the material of the mechanical seal, the degree of compression of the seal, the cooling water used for the seal, the quality of maintenance work, and whether the pump is being used properly. It is necessary to examine each of these factors to identify the cause and take appropriate action, rather than simply replacing the pump blindly
1. An underwater long-axis design is standard~~~ When heating, both the tank and the pump are heated, which prevents solidification~~~ 2. Sealing leaks at this workstation are basically caused by solidification due to temperature, resulting in a lack of sealing flush fluid~~~ The solution is rather complex, and reliability is not high~~~ If an underwater long-axis design is used, a seal-less approach can be adopted, thereby resolving this issue fundamentally; 3. Finally, steam tracing is essential at all times, just as fish and water are interdependent~~~
