I’m working on a project that requires the installation of reaction vessels and piping valves. What material is generally used for the cold water, hot water, and steam pipes in reaction vessels? Acids and bases are involved in this reaction; what type of valves and pipes are most resistant to acids and bases?
This parameter is not very clear; it is necessary to know what medium, pH level, and temperature are involved in order to make an accurate and reliable selection
If it’s just steam, stainless steel valves are sufficient; things get more complicated when acids and alkalis are involved. For applications with low pressure and temperatures below 160 degrees, fluoroplastic valves can be used; otherwise, other special materials need to be considered.
It depends on whether the kettle heating coil is an internal coil or an external coil; for internal coils, the material used should be the same as that of the kettle body or a higher-grade material, while carbon steel is sufficient for external coils； It depends on the concentration of the acid; generally, 304 is sufficient, while the higher-grade 316 is used.
