Is the bolt head in the same direction as or opposite to the medium flow direction? Is this true for both vertical and horizontal pipes? I asked a few people, and what they told me was all different.
Hex head bolts have no requirement to be in line with or opposite to the flow direction of the medium.
This requirement makes no sense. The installation direction of hex head bolts should be determined based on convenience during construction, but consistency is required. Other than that, I can’t think of any reason for it; could it be that installing them in the direction of the flow reduces vibration?
If there are requirements, follow them; otherwise, you’re just asking for trouble. There are no requirements; it’s best to choose the option that makes disassembly and assembly easier, so as to avoid getting scolded by others when they try to disassemble it: lol

In this case, it doesn’t matter as much. For single-headed bolts, the general requirement is that they be vertical, with the bolt heads on top; the bolt heads are located on the outside of both ends of the valve
What about the horizontal direction? I’ve seen two sets that were not far apart from each other, with the bolt heads facing either forward or backward. I remember there were specifications for equipment installation, which specified requirements regarding the direction in which bolts should be installed.
