Why is there this square on the valve body (red circle in the picture)：
Aren’t you making valves? That’s where specifications, materials, and manufacturer logos are printed.
That's a label for the casting, the manufacturer's logo, it has no structural function, right?
It can be seen that the finish of the flange processing of this valve is very high, and the valve body is not large. It should be produced by a well-known company with medium and low pressure, but the logo printing is not necessarily on a flat surface. When the casting is poured, there will be a material inlet. It is estimated that this should be a platform for processing at the inlet. Since the lower part of the casting is denser, a little thickness reinforcement is added to the upper part.
Not for making valves. There's no logo on it either.

One of the sprues, others were cut off on the flange surface. There was a lump on the top of this piece after it was cast. The method of mold casting is so that the sprue is placed here without affecting the strength of the valve body. Generally, it is milled flat with a milling machine. Don’t ask how you know.
