Regarding flow rate, there is no such thing as an optimal economic flow rate; moreover, flow rate is not given priority in terms of process design – what matters first is whether the pipe diameter and pressure drop meet the required specifications. After meeting the process requirements, check whether the flow velocity at this pipe diameter is a safe one.
Then do I need to assume a flow rate myself to choose the pipe diameter? Then verify it in reverse?
