In petrochemical refining projects, there are specifications regarding insulation pipelines, which state that \"for low-temperature liquid pipelines, valves must not be installed on vertical pipes; the valve stems on horizontal pipes should be oriented vertically upward or at an angle of 45 degrees upward.\" Why is this? Is it because the valve is exposed, which leads to the liquefaction of water vapor in the air and even the formation of ice crystals, thereby causing corrosion and damage to the valve?
It is likely a concern that the cold medium might freeze the valve stem lifting mechanism, ultimately preventing the handwheel or actuator from functioning; this is for reference only!
