Issues regarding the material margin for process pipelines

Dear seniors, may I ask what the specifications or standards regarding tolerances for process pipeline materials are? These past few days I’ve been working on analyzing the single-line diagrams, but I’m not sure how to determine this margin.

It’s usually based on experience; for fittings, flanges, gaskets, valves, etc., the quantities are determined according to actual needs. For bolts, a slightly higher amount might be allocated compared to the total quantity. For pipes, a 3% margin is used (though this 3% can be quite significant if the total pipe length is large). However, design firms these days are becoming more stringent regarding material usage, leaving less margin available. . . . . .
