Steel grade 20 is widely used. Can steel grade 10 replace it? What are the problems?
It can be used in pipelines for low-pressure, non-toxic, and non-flammable media
Can using 20-grade steel instead of 10-grade steel suffice?
No. The strength does not match. Steel No. 10 can be used as oval or octagonal gaskets for steel ring flanges; it is particularly soft.
The weldability of steel grade 10 is also inferior to that of steel grade 20. Generally, the lower the carbon content, the better the weldability; however, if it is too low, it becomes problematic again, and a carbon content as low as that of steel grade 20 is optimal.
