For the technical upgrade of the project, a DN80 check valve needs to be installed at the pump outlet. For ease of installation, vertical check valves have been used; however, the medium is a slurry mixture at a pressure of up to 0.1 MPa. Will stopping the pump cause blockage at the back end of the check valve? The horizontal check valve used in the previous design.
It depends on the properties of your medium; if it’s a slurry-type material, there’s a possibility of crystallization or precipitation and caking. If not, I think vertical or horizontal setups are pretty much the same
It depends on the properties of the material. For materials containing alkalis and salts, even horizontal check valves can lead to crystallization if not handled properly, let alone vertical ones. It is recommended to add a small cross-link.
