Seeking help on how to read piping diagrams in chemical plants and related construction information; I recently need to work on pipeline installation by referring to piping diagrams; I’ve no experience with this before, so I’m asking all the experts to share some relevant materials. This is based on experience, so it’s hard to say for sure
Ask the design institute for the pipeline construction instructions, and then review the equipment layout drawings as well as the regulations regarding the required level of detail in pipeline construction drawings.
The piping diagrams provided by the design institute merely show information regarding the pipelines, their routes, and the materials used for them. The requirements for construction are outlined in the design specifications, which you can consult there
1. You must first understand the drawings thoroughly; write down any parts you don’t understand; 2. Go to the site to resolve any unclear points and see the layout of the pipes ; 3. You need to know what grade, material, and fluid the pipeline you are working on consists of, so as to determine the appropriate welding procedures and carry out the work in accordance with relevant standards (the design drawings usually indicate what reference standards to use, as well as whether testing is required and what method of testing to employ) ; 4. Break down the drawing materials to verify that the specifications and quantities of the materials are correct ; 5. Submit applications for construction materials, determine the allocation of human resources and equipment, prepare a construction plan, and draw pipeline layout diagrams ; 6. Once the remaining materials have arrived, hand them over to the construction team
