Hello everyone: Our company is dealing with a chemical medium consisting of 37% hydrochloric acid. Due to the high pressure, which is 2.4 MPA at 60 degrees Celsius, manufacturers are unable to produce non-metallic valves that can withstand such high pressures; fluorinated-lined valves can only reach a pressure rating of CL150. We use relatively few valves, all of which are 1/2\" or 3/4\", with the largest being 2 inches. Could you recommend some materials for these valves? Thank you.
I’m not entirely sure; you could try PTFE-lined steel, though it is a bit expensive
The manufacturer of CL300 says that the pressure is too high and it’s not possible to produce it; only CL150 can be manufactured
I’m not very knowledgeable; I really don’t know anything about non-metallic materials. How about trying metal valves, such as Hastelloy?
The pressure here is extremely high; the fiberglass-reinforced plastic has no problem with corrosion resistance, but the pressure might not be sufficient. It is usually 1.6 Mpa
Non-metallic pipes can reach up to PN16; those with a steel lining are also limited to PN16. PE-steel framed pipes can reach PN40, but using them in this application is not very safe. . Titanium or Hastelloy is preferred.
PVDF diaphragm valve? It seems it won’t be able to reach such high pressure either
For reference data, it’s better to choose Hastelloy.
