What is the purpose of the “cecum” in steam pipes?

Is the condensate water generated during the initial warming-up of the pipes not collected? Is there a drain valve at its lowest point?
Why is it necessary to use this cecum? Can’t we simply set up a drain at the lower point? And the position of the drain guide is in this direction here. It’s not at the end of the cecum.

It should be used to collect condensate at a lower point, for drainage!
If backflow is allowed at the lowest point without a collector, water hammer effects that occur when the pipeline experiences alternating hot and cold temperatures can cause the welds or flanges of the pipeline to be damaged. This collector helps to buffer the pressure, collect the condensate, and thus protect the pipeline. The drain valve is placed near the end in order to allow the condensate to be drained more effectively directly, whereas if it is placed at the far end, more condensate needs to accumulate before it can be discharged in large quantities.
