We have high-pressure air pipes here, but their diameter is very small; they don’t qualify as pressure pipes. We would like to conduct regular inspections of the welds – is this necessary? Are there also any **industry standards** for such pipes?

For the inspection of non-pressure pipelines, one can compare them with pressure pipelines using the same medium and pressure level, without needing to consider the pipe diameter. After all, it’s fine if corporate standards are stricter
As for the necessity, I don’t think it’s necessary; since there is no mandatory requirement, it’s sufficient to carry out regular checks on the appearance, corrosion protection, and pressure conditions, as well as to perform routine maintenance. Even if a leak occurs in the welds, temporary measures such as rewelding can be taken. If weld inspection is necessary, non-destructive testing using X-rays is the best option, though it’s also the most expensive; ultrasonic testing and magnetic particle testing are alternatives that work just as well. Actually, the most important factor is the significance of this pipeline. If it’s extremely important and must not experience any problems, then regular inspections are necessary; in that case, it’s not just a matter of checking the welds!
