The horizontal tank area of the chemical processing plant was put into use in 2013; it has a capacity of 50 cubic meters and consists of horizontal tanks under normal temperature and pressure conditions. The inlet and outlet pipelines at the bottom of the tanks are DN50 in size, and the tanks lack insulation. Is it necessary to install metal hoses? Please give me some advice
It’s not necessary. The purpose of installing metal flexible hoses is to prevent the tensile forces exerted on the pipes due to tank settlement. Since the tank area is already in use, the tanks should not experience significant settlement.
According to the standards, measures should be taken to prevent settlement, and hoses are generally the preferred choice. In your case, if you want to avoid installing it, you can ask a design firm to prepare a document outlining measures to prevent settlement; otherwise, experts will definitely require the installation of flexible hoses. I’ve had several units like this for almost seven or eight years now, and flexible hoses were still installed on them. Experts are great.
The bottom of the tank is not necessary; it can be pressed downward during settlement, and the flange bolts are not subjected to shear forces. Smaller tanks can be compensated for through proper piping arrangements
