The vortex generator in the Yokogawa vortex flow meter is the main component of the detector; it is closely related to the flow characteristics of the instrument (such as the coefficient of performance, linearity, range, etc.) as well as its pressure loss characteristics. Its advantage lies in its ability to control the synchronous separation of vortices along the axis of the vortex generator; Over a wide range of Reynolds numbers, there is a stable vortex separation point, maintaining a constant Strouhal number ; It can generate strong vortex streets, resulting in a high signal-to-noise ratio ; Simple shape and structure, facilitating processing and standardization of geometric parameters, as well as the installation and combination of various sensing elements ; The material should meet the requirements of the fluid properties, being corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant, and resistant to temperature changes ; The natural frequency is outside the frequency band of the vortex street signal. Yokogawa vortex flowmeters have developed a wide variety of vortex generators, which can be divided into two categories: single vortex generators and multi-vortex generators. The basic shapes of single vortex generators include cylinders, rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms; all other shapes are variations of these basic forms. The triangular prismatic vortex generator is the most widely used type. To enhance the strength and stability of vortex streets, multiple vortex generators can be employed, though their use is not widespread. There are 5 ways for flow meters to detect vortex signals. 1. Directly detect the differential pressure on both sides of the vortex generator using a detection element installed within it; 2. Create pressure guide holes in the vortex generator, and install detection elements in these holes to measure the differential pressure on both sides of the generator; 3. Detect the alternating circumferential flow around the vortex generator; 4. Detect the alternating differential pressure on the back side of the vortex generator; 5. Detect the rows of vortices in the wake stream.
