The surfaces of stainless steel seamless tubes are treated through processes such as acid washing, sandblasting, shot blasting, and polishing. Does the term \"passivation\" you mentioned refer to oil removal? My family’s business deals with the production of stainless steel pipes. As per customer requirements, generally all pipes are shipped after being pickled. Degreasing is usually applied to pipes that are used for natural gas or other gases that are flammable. Normal chemical fluid pipelines generally only require normal pickling. It mainly depends on the medium.
I remember it seems to be mentioned in GB50184; it depends on the environment in which it is used. For stainless steel pipes in acidic or alkaline environments, the welds need to be pickled and passivated, otherwise it depends on the design requirements
