I was wondering, do you know why it can’t be installed in reverse?
The sealing packing layer of the valve stem cannot withstand low temperatures. To prevent low-temperature media from seeping into this packing layer due to gravity and causing seal failure, the stem of low-temperature valves should be installed with its upper end facing upward.
Valves such as low-temperature gate valves essentially provide one-way sealing; when the valve stem is installed upward, the medium fills the chamber, and the medium is in constant contact with the packing.
Low-temperature valves all feature an extended stem design
It’s an extended structure, but the medium should definitely be able to reach the filler.
