Recently, Tangshan Haitai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement with China National Petroleum Pipeline Bureau Engineering Co., Ltd. The latter will provide comprehensive consulting, design services, and technical support for the construction of the Kangbao-Caofeidian hydrogen pipeline project carried out by Haitai New Energy, thereby facilitating the rapid development of this hydrogen transmission pipeline. The starting point of the pipeline line is in Kangbao County, Zhangjiakou, and the ending point is in Caofeidian District, Tangshan. The total length of the line is approximately 736.5 kilometers, with a design pressure of 6.3 megapascals for the pipeline. According to available information, Haitai New Energy is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research, development, production, and sales of green energy equipment, striving to provide global customers with more valuable green energy solutions in a systematic manner. Haitai New Energy will work together with China National Petroleum Pipeline Bureau to explore development models for the hydrogen energy industry, promote the application of hydrogen energy technologies, inject new momentum into the development of this industry, facilitate Haitai New Energy’s progress in the field of hydrogen energy, and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of green energy.

I’m very curious as to whether this hydrogen pipeline spanning over 700 kilometers will be designed to run underground or above ground; it surely can’t be built in utility tunnels, right? @Fish in the desert

In terms of the operating temperature of -259°C, maintaining heat insulation for such long pipelines is also a problem.
The total investment for the project is 6.1 billion, with a length of 737 kilometers and a diameter of D600; this results in a weight of 540 KG per meter. The cost per unit is 820 yuan, which equals 15,000 yuan per ton on average
