Globe valves: J6(BW)1Y-CL300I P48/15 15CrMo NPS0.5X3.6-Class300-BW; J6(BW)1Y-CL2500I P55/106 12Cr1MoV NPS0.5X5-Class2500-BW. I can understand the meaning of all the other codes in the model numbers, but I don’t know what the numbers following the multiplication sign “X” – namely 16, 8.8, 3.6, and 5 – mean. I’d appreciate it if someone could help me with this. By the way, what do the codes P55/106 and P48/15 mean? Thank you.
This model represents a gate valve with a size of NPS 2 (2-inch diameter) and a pressure rating of Class 2500 (2500 pounds), connected by butt welding (BW). The material is 12Cr1MoV, suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure operating conditions. .
The value marked in yellow should be the wall thickness of the pipe for butt welding; generally, butt-welded valves will indicate the pipe wall thickness so as to match it with the pipes on site. You can take a look at HG20553, the steel pipe dimensions.
Blue represents the operating pressure at the Pxx operating temperature; for example, P55/106 indicates that the operating pressure is 10.6 MPa at an operating temperature of 550°C.
Is it possible that it’s the size of the mating fastener, such as M16?
The part marked in yellow should be the wall thickness of the welded pipe; welded valves always indicate the pipe wall thickness.
NPS 5: The nominal diameter is 5 inches. X16: It may refer to the pressure rating of the valve or the dimensions of the connection flanges or fittings; its exact meaning needs to be determined based on the context. Class 2500: The pressure rating of the valve, indicating that it can withstand pressures up to 2500 psi (pounds per square inch). BW: Butt Weld, which means that the valve is connected directly to the pipeline system through welding.
What is the wall thickness of the BW pipe? Just ask the customer directly
