I would like to ask the experts here: I have examined several carbon steel grades classified according to ASME standards. All of the pipe materials are 106B, and the corresponding butt-welded fittings should be of type A234 WPB; cannot they be of type WPA or WPC?

Although both WPA and WPC are made of carbon steel, WPA is typically used in environments with lower pressures and temperatures, while WPC is used at higher operating temperatures. Their cost and performance need not be considered unless specific engineering requirements exist. Therefore, for most applications under standard temperature and pressure conditions, A234 WPB is a cost-effective and practical choice. .
