Today, a colleague asked what to do when the system loses power and the battery cells can no longer circulate electricity: should the liquid be drained or kept inside the cells?
It’s hard to answer regarding the duration, the type of groove, and the manufacturer’s requirements

Asahi Kasei requires that the process be run for 15 minutes, followed by a cycle of 50 minutes; however, if power is not available, the planned operation cannot take place and the cycling process cannot continue. If power is restored in a short time, it’s better not to drain the liquid. If power is not restored for an extended period, then it’s necessary to choose the option that results in less damage. We have encountered such situations before: in a short period of time – I can’t remember exactly how long, maybe 10-20 minutes – we didn’t drain the liquid, and as a result 3 membranes were damaged; plus a few more that broke later on, so in total around 6 membranes were damaged. I don’t think the drainage situation will be any better either.
You don’t have an accident response plan; in advance, technical staff need to communicate with the manufacturer to develop handling procedures, as specific requirements vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Check whether the circulation water pump can start in time; if it can achieve low-flow overflow, that is better than not allowing any liquid to be discharged. No drainage results in less loss compared to drainage; if the fan in the exhaust system does not operate, drainage will draw chlorine into the electrolyzer.
