Oxygen cathode technology is quite mature. At present, Binhua Group has a production line with a capacity of 40,000 tons, and its electricity consumption is approximately 1,600 kWh per ton of caustic soda produced. The investment is higher compared to ordinary ion-exchange membrane electrolysis. The oxygen cathode at Binhua has been in operation for over 4 years.
