The natural soda process, the ammonia-soda process (invented in 1862 by the Belgian scientist Solvay), and the combined soda process (a soda production method successfully developed over three years from 1938 to 1940 by Chinese chemical expert Hou Debang; it was later named the “Hou’s Combined Soda Process”). These are the main methods. There were also other methods like the Leblanc process, but none of them found industrial application
