How to effectively remove sulfate ions from saline solutions

How can sulfate ions be effectively removed from saline solutions? The precipitate formed by adding barium chloride is too fine to be removed easily through ordinary filtration, and filtering using a filter membrane is too slow and not very effective

Nanofiltration membrane separation, reuse of the permeate, freeze sedimentation of the concentrate, and subsequent removal of nitrates using a centrifuge.
None of this is a problem; there’s already been a lot said about the chlor-alkali process!
Isn’t membrane treatment used in all saltwater purification processes? Then why is barium chloride still employed? :o
