May I ask, in the downstream applications of soda ash, are there any areas where only heavy soda ash/low-salt heavy soda ash can be used, and are there any areas where only light soda ash can be used? What are the corresponding reasons for this? For now, I’m only sure about float glass. What about household glass? Some sources state that high-quality cleaning products must use heavy soda ash – what is the reason for this?
As far as I know, it is determined by the higher density of heavy alkalis and the difference in specific gravity compared to quartz sand, which is the raw material used in glass production; an excessive difference in specific gravity can lead to uneven mixing, thereby affecting the final product quality and the rate of products that meet the standards.
Can we continue discussing this question? I’ve always been curious about this issue, but since I work with instruments, I haven’t paid much attention to it. Seeing this post today has made me even more curious. Could the experienced professionals among you explain the mysteries behind this?
On the contrary, more light gray is used for cleaning products, because it has a low density, so more bottles are needed to hold it!!
