A chlorine cooler was manufactured; the drawings specified asbestos rubber gasket sheets made of XB350 material for use as gaskets. The gaskets purchased externally broke in the middle during the pressure testing process. The workshop workers believed that pressure reduction was needed on site to replace the gaskets, so they chose silicone rubber sheets from the warehouse for use. The device started leaking after being in use for only a short time; fortunately, it was discovered in time, which prevented a worse outcome. Details determine success or failure; a small mistake can turn into a big one!

Care must be taken when using gaskets in chlorine systems; under the current safety and environmental pressure conditions, a large-scale leak of chlorine gas could lead to an immediate shutdown of operations.
Highly hazardous media. Gaskets must not be used indiscriminately.
This is *involuntary violation of regulations – chlorine is highly toxic; how can one alter the materials without permission? If something serious happens, legal responsibility will have to be assumed, :)
Thank you for sharing. Pipe fittings are really important, especially gaskets and bolts. Frontline workers do not use it strictly, and mixing it up is easy.
This is a design flaw – the designers, proofreaders, reviewers (and even those in charge of final approval) failed to fulfill their responsibilities; ignorance breeds courage!
The inadequate explanation of the tasks is a matter of managerial responsibility.
