Currently, Shandong Haihua, Tangshan Sanyou, and Qingdao Alkali Industry are all using this method. This method is technologically mature, transforms waste into value, and represents a typical concept of circular economy. The main process involves using calcium carbide sludge as lime water in the lime-making unit of the soda ash plant; if there is a shortage of water, the calcium carbide sludge replaces slaked lime in the soda ash distillation tower.
The use of calcium carbide slag to produce lime has been successfully applied abroad; according to available information, an experimental plant in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, at the Air Reduction Plant, built a facility with a production capacity of 60 tons of quicklime per day in 1948. Between 1959 and 1962, two sets of lime production units with a capacity of 330 t/a were built; they operated safely and reliably, with nearly 350 operating days per year.
Our company’s 20WDpvc project is set to go into operation, but I haven’t heard anything about how to deal with this issue… Over 10 tons of calcium carbide slag are generated for every ton of PVC produced……
I think calcium carbide slag or calcium carbide slag slurry can be used in soda ash production, but it cannot completely replace lime.
A factory affiliated with the Qinghai Salt Lake uses Tianchen Institute’s technology, following this same approach. It is expected that I will be able to drive next year
