There is no problem in theory, and it is not difficult to implement in engineering. The key is to consider the investment cost and operating cost. The concentration of carbon dioxide in the flue gas is low, and there is also a certain oxygen content, as well as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, etc., which need to be considered comprehensively.
It is quite troublesome. First of all, CO2 concentration is a big problem. Although the process is mature, the consumption is not low.
The concentration is too low, less than 20%. To increase the concentration, the volume of treated gas is large and the investment in purification is high. Moreover, now the joint alkali production has sufficient carbon dioxide. Although ammonia-alkali uses kiln gas, firstly, the lime produced by the kiln is its raw material, and secondly, the concentration can reach 40%.
The concentration is less than 20%, and the oxygen content is high, and the sulfur content is also high, so the purification cost is not low. The ammonia-alkali method generally has excess gas and does not require CO2. The combined alkali method also has enough CO2 gas, so the use of flue gas is not recommended.
According to what the poster said, CO2 has a large amount and high purity. In this case, it is completely acceptable to use it to produce soda ash.
