Are combustible gas alarms required at the exhaust vent for hydrochloric acid absorption and the hydrogen vent tower? According to the latest 2019 version of the flammable and toxic gas alarm regulations, an alarm must be installed for all sources of release. These two points mean that there will be gaps during production operations, or hydrogen will be released continuously; moreover, the vent openings are designed in accordance with explosion-proof requirements. If an alarm is installed, it will keep sounding during normal production, thereby losing its purpose as an alarm. I would like to ask everyone: have I misunderstood the specifications? Release sources do not include dedicated special emission outlets
Alarms are installed to provide early warning in the event of an accidental release; therefore, no alarms are needed at hydrogen discharge points. However, alarms should be installed near areas where leaks may occur in the pipelines of equipment that generates hydrochloric acid or hydrogen. Hydrogen detection alarms should be installed above the source of release.
