Both of the products mentioned above are produced using the ammonia-alkali process; the main impurity in sodium carbonate is chloride ions, while the main impurities in ammonium chloride are sodium ions and sulfate ions. How can these impurities be removed?
Refining these two products is not that difficult.
The key is cost-effectiveness, and multiple crystallizations can solve this problem.

The chlorine content in industrial-grade sodium carbonate ranges from 0.3% to 0.7%; only about one-tenth purification can be achieved through a single recrystallization process. The required level for reagents is 0.002%, and at least three recrystallizations are necessary.
Why was only the crystallization method considered?
What other options are there besides crystallization?
Ammonium chloride is a double-alkali product, not an ammonia-alkali product.
The chlorine content in industrial-grade sodium carbonate can be controlled to well below 0.3%.
