Gentle experts, how does the ion membrane inside a chlor-alkali electrolyzer separate the anode chamber from the cathode chamber? How do I secure the encrypted envelope? Is it just by applying pressure?
Look for a book on chlor-alkali process equipment; it contains information on the structure of electrolyzers. Electrolyzers are indeed sealed by compression, and of course they also require a sound and reliable mechanical structure as well as precise sealing dimensions.
Different materials are used for the cathode and anode gaskets; different compression pressures are applied at various temperatures, and a locking mechanism is available once the temperature stabilizes. The membrane itself separates the anode and cathode.
