What is the requirement for iodine content in raw salt for PVC production?
PVC production has no special requirements regarding the iodine content in raw salt. .
The raw material for PVC production is VCM (vinyl chloride monomer), while crude salt is merely a raw material that may be used in the production of VCM; the primary materials such as chlorine, hydrogen chloride, and sodium hydroxide are obtained by electrolyzing sodium chloride to produce chlorine and hydrogen, which are then used to synthesize hydrogen chloride. The level of iodine in raw salt only affects the production process of ion-exchange membrane caustic soda; it has little to no impact on the quality of downstream products. It also has no direct effect on the quality of vinyl chloride (VCM) produced by the ethylene or acetylene method. Therefore, during PVC production, there are no special requirements regarding the iodine content in raw salt, as iodine in raw salt basically cannot enter the PVC production process.
