I have been working on sulfuric acid projects recently and have come into contact with some foreign clients who require very low production capacities. It’s in the range of tens of thousands of tons in scale. For this, I want to estimate the approximate dimensions of a sulfur incineration furnace; according to the requirements, the length must be at least 8 meters. So how should the heat intensity and residence time for sulfur incineration be determined?
In the process design for sulfuric acid production, there are empirical values for the volumetric heat intensity of the incinerator, as well as recommended values for the ratio of the furnace’s length to its diameter.
I have already found the experience values and ratios inside, but for small devices, the length-to-diameter ratio is less than 8 meters; however, to prevent sulfur sublimation, it is necessary to increase the length. This will result in a value that is higher than the recommended ratio.
If you are concerned about sublimated sulfur, it is recommended to choose a sulfide gun with good atomization performance.
In other words, by choosing one with a good atomization effect, there’s no need to consider the requirement that the sulfur burning furnace must be longer than 8 meters?
There is also a design for sulfur incineration furnaces that can include baffle walls with swirl effects.
I currently only work in the field of craftsmanship. I also know that three retaining walls are needed; it’s just that when providing a solution to clients, I want to have some prior experience to estimate the approximate dimensions first. For the later design phase, I’ll hire a professional manufacturer to handle it; I’d appreciate some advice from experts.
