China Chemical New Network News (Jiang Xiaomao) On January 20, it was learned from Jiangxi Sanyue High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd. that the standards for \"Polyurethane Artificial Leather\" (GB/T 8949-2025) and \"Polyvinyl Chloride Artificial Leather\" (GB/T 8948-2025), which were revised with the participation of this company, have been approved for release. They will come into effect on May 1, 2026. **The standards for \"Polyurethane Artificial Leather\" and \"Polyvinyl Chloride Artificial Leather\" are under the jurisdiction of TC48 (National Technical Committee for Standardization of Plastic Products), with the China National Light Industry Council as the supervising authority. This standard will replace \"Polyurethane Artificial Leather\" (GB/T 8949-2008) and \"Polyvinyl Chloride Artificial Leather\" (GB/T 8948-2008) respectively. Yuan Zhijun, chairman of Sanjie High-Tech, said that when it becomes an industry consensus that \"top-tier companies should set the standards,\" there are always pioneers who use their technical expertise as the ink and a sense of industry responsibility as the medium to write a new chapter in the standardized development of this sector. Sanjie High-Tech was invited to join a drafting team composed of industry leaders and universities to participate actively in the development of these standards. This represents an authoritative recognition of its technical capabilities by relevant authorities, and it signifies that the company has entered the core circle of those involved in setting industry standards. It is understood that **the formulation of standards serves as a “guidepost” for industrial development, and more importantly, a “measure” for market order.** The new national standard GB/T 8949-2025 replaces GB/T 8949—2008, featuring comprehensive upgrades in terms of scope, classification, and performance requirements. It introduces new test methods for hydrolysis resistance and width shrinkage, providing a scientific basis for production, inspection, and sales in the industry. GB/T 8948-2025 replaces GB/T 8948—2008; it introduces improved testing methods for surface wear resistance as well as limits on harmful substances, and adds testing methods for pollution resistance and thermal stability. This further enhances the product quality evaluation system, providing a solid foundation for the standardized development of the industry. Yuan Zhijun said that in the future, Sanjie High-Tech will continue to be guided by standards, deepen innovation in the field of materials, transform advantages related to standards into advantages in products and the market, and at the same time actively participate in the formulation of more industry standards to drive the industry toward standardization and higher quality.
