Recently, the 10,000-ton phase of the first phase of Jiangsu Hengnuo New Materials Technology Co., Ltd.’s project for producing 110,000 tons per year of biodegradable polyester rubber has entered the stage of line integration and trial production. Biodegradable polyester rubber materials are made from main raw materials such as succinic acid, sebacic acid, and 1,4-butanediol, through continuous esterification and polycondensation processes. Their biodegradation rate can exceed 70% within 130 days in a composting environment, with them ultimately breaking down into water and carbon dioxide, thus possessing green and environmentally friendly properties. This material can be applied in areas such as tire manufacturing, shoe materials, gloves, shock-absorbing materials, PVC toughening, controllably degradable tire treads, and medically usable degradable bone wax. Biodegradable polyester rubber is a type of rubber that is world-first and of Chinese origin; it was developed by the research team at the Center for Advanced Elastomer Materials at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The project is located in the Lingang Industrial Zone of Yangkou Port in Rudong, Jiangsu, with a total investment of 1.08 billion yuan. The project adopts a \"single planning, three-phase construction\" approach and is developed in three phases. Phase 1 is designed with an annual production capacity of 10,000 tons, Phase 2 has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons, and Phase 3 also has an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons. Once fully completed, the project will be able to produce 110,000 tons per year of new biodegradable polyester rubber materials.
