On April 13, Xuchang Jinmeng Juyi Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jinmeng Juyi) successfully carried out the first operation of its 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) production line, and completed the testing of the first batch of products; the purity of these products reached 99.9%, exceeding the standards of similar products produced by leading international companies. CHDM is a key monomer for producing high-end polyesters; previously, the related technologies and market were under the monopoly of foreign companies for a long time. “The key to the successful launch of this project lies in the independent development of core technologies. ”Li Shihan, chairman of Jinmeng Jucail, explained that the company, in collaboration with the R&D center of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, developed specialized catalysts required for the two-stage hydrogenation process of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT). This effort established a green circular industry chain that connects \"used polyester – DMT – CHDM – high-end new materials,\" thereby reducing raw material costs and enabling resource reuse. It lays a solid foundation for China to achieve self-sufficiency in high-end polyester materials. It is reported that the project plans to invest 600 million yuan, utilizing the production technology independently developed by Jinmeng Juyi Materials to build a facility capable of producing 30,000 tons per year of high-end polyester raw materials, along with the necessary supporting facilities. Once operational, it will help fill the gap in the industrial application of related technologies in China. In terms of process technology, this project utilizes an advanced catalytic system and green production methods that were developed independently. It makes full use of the hydrogen gas generated as a by-product in local industries in Xiangcheng, delivering it through pipelines for use across different facilities. This approach not only helps to address the gas balance issues faced by upstream coal chemical enterprises but also significantly reduces logistics costs and energy consumption.
