There is a buried grounding flat bar next to the foundation of the metal equipment, and this flat bar needs to be connected to the equipment. What is the correct way to make this connection? Thank you
Drill 2 holes in the flat bar; weld a section of flat bar to the equipment with 2 holes drilled in it as well, and then connect the two flat bars together using bolts. Previously, grounding strips were directly welded to the equipment, but now it is said that this approach no longer meets the requirements.

Our liquefied gas storage tanks were previously welded directly, and for many years no one raised any objections regarding this method. Last year, an inspection team came and said that direct welding was not acceptable as it made it difficult to measure the ground resistance; we were absolutely devastated, considering there are so many connection points. I’ve never really understood what this ground resistance is all about. Is it useful to disconnect this grounding strip? What should be done with the pipelines connected to the storage tank, and those pipelines are in turn connected to the equipment……

How do you handle the grounding of mechanical pumps?
Use a dedicated yellow-green grounding wire to connect the motor to the flat bar nearby, securing it with bolts.
Can’t it be welded directly? Why?
