Can the neutral points of two different transformers be connected together? Both transformers are operating normally. The plant uses a TN-C system; could the technicians please explain this? ...Thank you
Let’s try to figure this out. First of all, the neutral point of a transformer is connected to ground, right? So what’s the purpose of connecting two such grounded neutral points together? Consider another scenario: if the neutral points are not grounded, there may be a voltage difference between those two neutral points, especially when the load is unbalanced; in that case, there is definitely a problem. Looking forward to someone expert who can explain in detail :)
It is acceptable to connect the neutral points of two different transformers together in a TN-C system. Using the ground as a reference point, the voltage variation between the relative neutral points varies from one transformer to another; since they belong to separate 10(6.3)/400 power systems, they do not affect each other.
