Our company has three air compressors with a total motor power of 600 KW. There are also three sets of heatless regeneration drying units in use. When these drying units undergo regeneration, they consume a certain amount of compressed air (about 20% of the total air produced). Considering the changes needed in the air consumption in other areas, we plan to shut down one of the air compressors; therefore, it is necessary to modify the air supply used for drying purposes. We would like to ask if it would be possible to use small air compressors, Roots blowers, or centrifugal fans to provide the air required for drying. Please advise us on the feasibility of such modifications
You can use something else, but you will still need to add another fan to the program and start it during regeneration; this is rather troublesome and may not necessarily reduce costs, so it is not recommended to make such changes
Three screw compressors can be replaced with one centrifugal compressor, along with a compression heat dryer that consumes no gas; this will result in significant cost savings in the long run
A cold dryer can be used for dehumidification; it does not require compressed air nor the replacement of adsorbents.
